About Career Advantage

DMACC and area high schools have formed a partnership to offer high school students the opportunity to earn college credit. Juniors and seniors are able to enroll and complete Career Advantage classes either at their home high school or at DMACC.

The DMACC Career Academies offer career and technical programs to high school students who receive the chance to explore various career options and get a head start on college

Registration

Students need to speak with their high school guidance counselor about enrolling in Career Advantage classes. Registration for a dual credit course takes place in the classroom during the first week of each semester.

College Credits

Students may use their college credit toward a two-year degree at DMACC. Students may also transfer credits to a four-year institution. DMACC has transfer agreements with Drake University, Grand View College, Iowa State University, University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa and many other colleges an universities.

It is the responsibility of the student to communicate with other colleges to decide if and how credit will be accepted.

*High School Career Advantage students who wish to attend DMACC after high school must fill out a DMACC Application for Admission and complete admission requirements.

Cost

Tuition for Career Advantage courses are covered through an agreement with the local school district and DMACC.
